On this tour you will visit the famous lagoon inside an inactive volcano “El Junco”, then we will go to Galapaguera where we can observe the majestic giant turtles, and following the tour, we will arrive at Puerto Chino an incredible beach where you will have a relaxing time.

The lagoon of El Junco has a diameter of 270 m. and its maximum depth is 6 m. It is fed only with rainwater, in times of drought decreases to 1 m. and when there are heavy rains increases its level to overflow forming a stream. 

El Junco Lagoon is located 19 kilometers from the port inside a large volcano, now extinct, its name comes from a type of plant that is common in its surroundings, called “junco”.  The lagoon is also surrounded by Miconia, a species of flora endemic to the Galapagos, and it is also one of the favorite sites for frigate birds that fly over the lagoon and skim its waters with fresh water. 

The Cerro Colorado Galapaguera is located in the southeast of San Cristobal, 22.4 km from Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, this galapaguera has been built to improve the status of the tortoise population of the island.

The San Cristóbal tortoises are one of the 11 land tortoise populations in Galapagos. They mate once a year and females lay between 12 and 16 eggs. These are immediately collected by park rangers and placed in a dark box for 30 days, after which they are incubated for 90 to 110 days. The hatchlings are then transferred to the growth pens where they remain for two years before being transported to their natural habitat (northeast of San Cristóbal).

• Hike in Laguna del Junco where we will observe the oldest volcano of the Enchanted Islands for approximately 40 minutes.
• Hike in Galapaguera where we will be able to observe the majestic giant turtles for approximately 40 minutes.
• Hike on the beach of Puerto Chino (as long as you wish).
