Description

The Sierra Negra volcano is the largest and most active volcano in the Galapagos Islands, and is considered one of the best places for hiking in South America as it rises to a height of 1124 meters above sea level. It has the largest caldera of all the Galapagos volcanoes, and is one of the largest volcanic craters on the planet. Its circumference measures approximately 30 km, a fact that can be appreciated in its entirety from the viewpoint.

The hike to the top of the volcano is long, we will walk approximately 1 hour and a half to reach the top of the crater, here we can observe the 10 km diameter that is covered by a sophisticated lava, the guide will take you to a small section to appreciate it. in the best way.

After going around a part of the Sierra Negra Volcano we continue the hike to the Chico Volcano which has a panoramic view. From there, on a good day with clear skies you can see the northern part of the island to Darwin Volcano, Santiago Island, Pinzon and Fernandina. Once there you will be able to perceive how the volcano is active and in some places you can feel the hot earth.
